Kainji Hydro-Power Plant Maintenance Works
Three Rotor Units at the Kainji Hydroelectric Plant are being Rehabilitated. The 1G5 Rotor was lifted on the October 30, While the 1G6 Rotor was lifted on the 15th of December. The works will be completed by the end of December. The plant has an installed capacity of 760 MW and is therefore a major player in Nigeria's electricity delivery efforts. These are the first time that these units are being maintained since installation in the 1970s and the very feat of lifting the Rotors and other components such as Turbines, was a new challenge.
