The last time we spoke about the Afren Towers, the tower slabs were just being finalized. At the end of February and the beginning of March, we are now at a stage where the pyramidal crown of the Afren Towers, is about to be formed. Disappointing the placement of the curtain wall facade did not begin simultaneously with the recent works and therefore, it will still be some time before the project will be delivered.
To recap on some basic information, the Afren Towers is a 15 floor office building being built for Oil/Gas firm Afren. The building will serve as their HQ. It was the first plot of land sold on Eko Atlantic City, it is the tallest building in the master-plan at present and the most advanced building site at present. It has set the tone, for future developments such as Eko Pearl, the Marina Residences and other future developments.
The project is expected to add 12,000m2 of office space to the Lagos market, which makes it comparable in stature to the Lakepoint Towers being built in Banana Island. As shown in the table above from North Court, other office buildings are also going to add more Grade A offices to the mix and this is a new growth area. Within Eko Atlantic City, there will of course also be significant contributions.
