The Inner Southern Expressway (ISEX) is a critical arterial that will facilitate movement within the local corridors of the Abuja Metropolitan area, while at the same time allowing for movement through to the peripheral/satellite districts. Salini Nigeria Ltd are undertaking the construction and Team Group Nigeria (Engineering) are the consultants. Much of the Lot 2 segment which runs parallel to the Airport Road (Built by Julius Berger) has been completed, but work remains, in the Lot 1 segment. A small portion of the Lot 1 segment (situated at Asokoro), is the area in question.
The work will connect, from the point where the Yakubu Gowon Crescent Intersects with the Murtala Muhammed Expressway Intersection, where a Ring Road will be built. Work commenced in June 2011 and is still ongoing. The following construction update is from July 2014 (Courtesy of Antonio Rizza). The sections and plan are courtesy of Team Group and shows the detailing of the Deck Cross section, as well as the Ring Road.
