It has been 14 years in the making, but the Shiror Bridge, which crosses the Kaduna River is finally a reality. The N2.5 Billion and 435 metre bridge was built in Shiroro LGA, Niger State. The conditions experienced during the construction of the bridge were particularly perilous, due to the downstream location of the bridge and the rainy season; exacerbated by the construction of the Shiroro Dam. However the dual carriageway bridge was realized in spite of the engineering challenges. The project was awarded in 2013 and was completed by Chinese company Zhongao.
We previously wrote about this project in our July 2014 entry and we are pleased that the project is finally completed. The following images are from the ribbon cutting ceremony held on the 14th of May, 2015.
