Rainbow Town, Port Harcourt is a master-planned community that was initiated by the Rivers State Government, with the backing of private equity institutions such as First Bank. The project includes a mixture of accommodation types. There are penthouse units with (1 bedroom - 5 bedrooms) located in 25 residential towers, terraces and detached houses to suit all needs. Rainbow Town is a development that comes with the full package of recreational facilities, medical/educational institutions, shopping and much more. Security, will be managed with well placed surveillance systems. The end goal, is to deliver 1,181 Units. Long Delays Avid followers of the Nigerian property market, will be privy to the fact that this was a development that was initiated in 2010, yet has still not being finalized. Saddled with contract variations, delays and budgetary inflation; Rainbow Town had essentially slowed down, almost completely - until recently. Work Hastens Work has intensified of late and the following images (Sourced from kel4soft) are proof of this latest development. It remains to be seen, whether they will be able to meet the 2015 deadline, but work forges ahead. The image above, is of the Airport Station, situated at DNAA (Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport). It is the westernmost station in the network and will be able to service passengers, that do not wish to ply the busy Airport Expressway. More on the Airport Connection HERE. The previous blog entry, expanded a little on the architectural side of things but this entry should shed some light on some of the logistics. Spark Architects, are the designers as mentioned earlier. They are joined by Deux Project Nigeria Limited (The Main Contractors), International firm Battle McCarthy (Engineering/Green Solutions) worked with the experienced Nigerian firm Pinconsult, to deliver the green/engineering solutions. The site context is shown above. The residential tower will overlook Bishop Aboyade Cole St, Fabac Close and Ligali Ayorinde St. Construction should begin within the next two months.
