Exxon Mobil have envisioned a diverse master-plan that will include the construction and development of various services to support the Oil/Gas Industry. Oil/Gas sector support is a new growth area in the Nigerian economy. We are already seeing vast expansion in the Onne FTZ for example and the development of theEko Energy Estate in Eko Atlantic City, which will complement the Eko Support Services. Exxon Mobil want to build new offices, car parks, apartments, and villas to service the Nigerian based workers, as well as the transit workforce. This master-plan is a multi-billion dollar plan, being delivered with the services of multinational firms such as Capita Symonds, as well as local partners such as Modulus Construction The most recent or prominent example within this plan is the Black Diamond Building. This building and the Exxon Mobil HQ are located on either side of the Lekki-Epe Expressway. To effectively allow the workers to move from their residences in Black Diamond to the offices (HQ), Sarens Buildwell Nigeria, (joint venture of Sarens Group and Buildwell Group) assembled an 80t walkway. The rendering of that walkway is shown to the left. However the Black Diamond Building is only the first out of a complex of four buildings to be built in that area. In the location map below, we see that there are two more blocks to the right of the Black Diamond Building, that will be developed, as well as one to the right of the Exxon Mobil HQ. The 2nd and 3rd Blocks will be similar in design to the Black Diamond building, while the 4th block will be unique in design. Written by T.Adeniyi for Blackborderbuild.com |
